My pre-made plans were rudely interrupted by pouring rain, driving winds, and a thunderstorm! I had planned to ride my bike, do some much needed work in the garden and even get out the chain saw to cut up some downed trees. Instead I sat outside on the covered porch and looked out. It was tempting to be depressed and frustrated because my ideas for the day had been disturbed.

"Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!"

What if this rainy morning was an unexpected stranger knocking on the door of my heart? If I chose to ‘entertain’ that possibility what might happen?

Listen carefully, those of you who make your plans and say, “We are traveling to this city in the next few days.

The reality is you have no idea where your life will take you tomorrow. You are like a mist that appears one moment and then vanishes another.

It would be best to say, “If it is the Lord’s will and we live long enough,
we hope to do this project or pursue that dream.”

I was stunned and humbled by this last part from the book of James……

“Your current speech indicates an arrogance that does not acknowledge
the One who controls the universe“
Perhaps this unexpected interruption of my plans will be the best thing that could have happened…..a wonderfully unexpected interruption!
